Job Summary

The Electrical BIM Engineer will be responsible for developing and managing Building Information Models (BIM) for electrical systems across various projects. This role requires close collaboration with design and engineering teams to ensure accurate representation of electrical systems, compliance with project standards, and seamless integration with other disciplines.

Reporting to: Senior Electrical Engineer / Projects Director

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, modify, and maintain BIM models for electrical systems using Autodesk Revit and related BIM software.
  • Coordinate BIM models with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to prevent clashes.
  • Ensure adherence to project-specific BIM execution plans and company standards.
  • Assist in the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and communication systems, using BIM tools.
  • Prepare detailed documentation of electrical systems, including layouts, schedules, and other deliverables.
  • Conduct model reviews and clash detection using tools such as Navisworks.
  • Verify that all models meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and team members to understand project requirements and deliverables.
  • Provide technical support and training to colleagues on BIM-related processes.
  • Prepare and update electrical BIM reports, drawings, and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated on BIM software developments and industry trends.
  • Recommend workflow and process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, including at least 3 years in BIM coordination or modelling.
  • Experience with GCC projects, ideally in healthcare, residential, commercial, hospitality, and/or institutional sectors.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Electrical), AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other BIM-related tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with BIM Level of Detail (LOD) requirements.
  • Experience with clash detection and resolution processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit preferred.
  • Membership in professional bodies such as IEEE or CIBSE is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to new technologies.
