Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture techniques and methods.
• Ensure proper patient identification to maintain accurate sample collection and labeling.
• Maintain a sterile environment to meet health and safety regulations.
• Accurately label and document patient samples for laboratory analysis.
• Coordinate with laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of all samples.
• Track and manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment effectively.
• Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment and machinery accurately.
• Provide assistance to patients who experience anxiety during blood collection.
• Update patient records and input test requisitions into the computer system.
• Follow proper waste disposal protocols to maintain clinic standards.
• Assist with training and mentoring new or less experienced phlebotomy staff.
• Stay updated on current phlebotomy techniques and health care standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent educational background is required.
• Completion of a certified Phlebotomy training program is mandatory.
• At least one year of experience in a clinical or similar setting is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate sample collection and labeling.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and medical team.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Current CPR certification and adherence to safety protocols is essential.
