Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher status with relevant degree
  • Advanced training in safeguarding and child protection
  • Previous experience as a DSL or Deputy DSL
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices
  • Experience leading staff safeguarding training
  • Strong confidential record-keeping abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders
  • Experience in safeguarding investigations and risk assessments
  • Ability to develop whole-school safeguarding policies
  • Strong teaching skills with evidence of classroom excellence
  • Experience in international/multicultural environments preferred
  • Commitment to teaching a primary class alongside DSL duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching some lessons as assigned
  • Leading the whole-school safeguarding team
  • Ensuring appropriate staff safeguarding training
  • Managing concerns and referrals
  • External agency liaison for child protection
  • Maintaining secure safeguarding records
  • Developing school safeguarding policies
  • Advising staff on child welfare issues
  • Promoting safeguarding culture school-wide
  • Contributing to online safety curriculum
  • Overview of attendance
