Job Description

As a CSSD Technician you will be responsible for the proper sterilization, assembly, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in patient care, surgeries, and medical procedures. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to infection control protocols, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.


Responsibilities:


  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, steam sterilizers, and chemical sterilization systems.
  • Follow established protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Properly assemble and arrange sterilized instruments, trays, and equipment according to specific procedures and usage requirements.
  • Organize and package items for sterilization, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
  • Adhere to strict infection control guidelines and standards to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Monitor and record sterilization cycles to ensure effectiveness.
  • Keep track of inventory levels for sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure an adequate supply of sterile items.
  • Perform routine tests and quality checks on sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning and efficacy.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and quality control results.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sterilization equipment to ensure its optimal performance.
  • Identify and report any malfunctions or issues with equipment.
  • Work closely with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide sterile instruments and supplies in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively to meet the needs of various medical departments.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to stay updated on sterilization techniques, infection control practices, and industry trends.
  • Ensure readiness for emergencies and urgent cases by maintaining a supply of sterile items for immediate use.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sterilization processes, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international guidelines and regulations related to sterile processing.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training or certification in sterile processing is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) or equivalent, are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with infection control standards and guidelines, including those specific to the UAE healthcare sector.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow strict protocols.
  • Physical stamina to handle lifting, standing, and bending for extended periods.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment.
