Job Description

A CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department) Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare sector by ensuring the safe and efficient sterilization and decontamination of medical instruments. These professionals are responsible for cleaning, packing, and preparing surgical instruments for use in various medical procedures. As a CSSD Technician, you will work closely with surgical teams to ensure that all equipment is sanitized and ready for use, which is crucial for preventing infections and maintaining patient safety. The position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Clean and decontaminate medical instruments using approved sterilization methods.
  • Inspect surgical tools for functionality and report any defects or malfunctions.
  • Assemble and wrap sterile instrument kits for surgical procedures with precision.
  • Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and reorder items when necessary.
  • Log and record sterilization activities in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Operate complex sterilization equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Follow strict infection control procedures to prevent contamination and spread of germs.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure instrument availability and readiness.
  • Ensure that all sterilization logs and documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay informed of latest practices.
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the Central Sterile Supply Department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a similar role in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of sterilization techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision and care.
  • Good physical condition and ability to stand for long periods.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members and healthcare staff.
