Job Description

A Credit Controller plays a pivotal role in the financial stability and efficiency of an organization. The primary function of this position is to manage and oversee the collection of outstanding credit accounts and maintain a positive cash flow within the company. This role is crucial as it directly affects the company's profit margins and financial health. The Credit Controller works closely with clients to ensure timely payments and resolves any financial disparities. Effective communication, negotiation, and strong organizational skills are essential, as the Credit Controller balances maintaining positive customer relationships with the company's financial interests.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage overdue accounts, ensuring consistent follow-up for outstanding payments.
  • Conduct regular credit assessments and reviews to mitigate potential financial risks.
  • Establish and enforce credit control policies and procedures within the organization.
  • Communicate directly with clients to negotiate payment terms and resolve payment issues.
  • Prepare and present credit reports and summaries to management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to reconcile accounts and manage credit limits effectively.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and propose strategic debt recovery solutions.
  • Oversee the preparation of statements, invoices, and credit notes for timely distribution.
  • Keep accurate records of all transactions, communications, and credit collections activities.
  • Assist in formulating strategies to minimize bad debts and improve cash flow.
  • Provide regular training and guidance to team members regarding credit management best practices.
  • Collaborate with legal teams when legal action is necessary for debt recovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in credit control or a similar financial role is required.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to manage customer relationships effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills to evaluate credit reports and financial data accurately.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of financial regulations and processes.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts and priorities efficiently.
