Job Description

A CCTV Technician is a specialized professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing closed-circuit television systems. These systems are crucial for the security and monitoring of various environments, including commercial, residential, and public areas. A successful CCTV Technician will possess a solid understanding of electronic security equipment, wiring and cabling protocols, as well as the ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively. The role requires a combination of technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and customer service capability. As technology continues to evolve, CCTV Technicians must also stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and innovations to ensure systems are effective and reliable.


Responsibilities

  • Install and configure CCTV surveillance systems according to client specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance of CCTV equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in camera hardware and related components promptly.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Ensure all installations comply with safety and industry standards for security systems.
  • Update and maintain comprehensive records of all installations, repairs, and maintenance works.
  • Provide training to clients on system operation and how to troubleshoot common issues.
  • Advise customers on optimal camera placements for efficient surveillance coverage.
  • Simulate and execute tests on CCTV systems to verify functionality before client handover.
  • Keep abreast of new CCTV technologies and recommend upgrades as necessary.
  • Work with team members to improve operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive surveillance footage and data.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a CCTV Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of CCTV equipment and electronic security systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems related to camera systems efficiently.
  • Excellent understanding of networking and IP configurations for CCTV setups.
  • Experience with various brands and models of CCTV cameras and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts and respond to emergency call-outs.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for field installations.
  • Relevant certification in electronic security systems or a related field is preferred.
