Purpose and Scope:
The Surveyor shall ensure that GIS data is available at project inception and confirms GIS data for projects entering final stages of development not specifically given a due date. Shall perform routine to technical survey duties in a field environment on a survey party or independently, in performing field surveys engaged in making plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, as built/record, engineering, GIS data collection and control survey projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Shall accomplish surveys and translate collected GPS data into AutoCAD drawings, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2020 for each survey or project.
- Utilizes automated field survey codes and equipment to collect and document survey data in accordance with project specific requirements.
- Read, analyze and interpret engineering/construction plans and perform field survey work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches.
- Assist supervisor to develop the deadlines, projects, and work to be completed.
- Work with survey crew in schedule with project inspectors, contractors, engineers and others, plans and carries out the assignment, resolves most conflicts that arise.
- Keeps supervisor informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications.
- Work is reviewed in terms of feasibility, compatibility with other work, or effectiveness of results.
- Will assist in the training of others.
- Participates as part of a working team, providing and maintaining a steady workflow while responding to changing needs.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
At least three years related experience performing field data collection using electronic survey measuring instruments and related electronic measuring instruments and related electronic collecting devices. Must possess a working knowledge in operating surveying equipment, including electronic theodolite total station, levels, data collector, and GPS equipment. Must be able to work at heights. The surveyor shall have familiarity with all tools and techniques of survey to include: differential leveling, Engineering Data Management/Data Collectors, and GPS equipment usage (preferably Trimble equipment) and associated download software. Survey candidate shall have a full working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2020 and ESRI Arc Map/Arc Editor plus Microsoft office products.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
This classification may include managing hazardous materials or other environmental responsibilities. Requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must perform in compliance with Federal, State, local, and NASA, laws and regulations and requirements and KSC energy management conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.
