Penetration Tester (225-708)

A Penetration Tester, often referred to as a "pen tester," plays a critical role in identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities within an organization's digital infrastructure. This professional performs authorized simulated cyberattacks on computer systems, networks, and web applications to evaluate the security efficacy. The primary objective is to find security weaknesses before malicious hackers can exploit them. Pen testers help businesses to secure sensitive information, improve security protocols, and ensure compliance with security regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of system architecture, networking, and cybersecurity threats, as well as familiarity with tools and techniques used in both ethical and unethical hacking.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct penetration tests on a variety of network systems and applications.
• Identify security vulnerabilities using a combination of automated tools and manual testing.
• Develop and execute testing scripts to ensure thorough vulnerability detection.
• Document security breaches and identify the suitable mitigation techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports of findings and recommend improvements for addressing vulnerabilities.
• Participate in security assessments and audits to evaluate overall system security.
• Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends, tools, and threat intelligence.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to integrate security improvements efficiently.
• Provide guidance on secure coding practices and assist in the development of security policies.
• Assist in the development and execution of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
• Offer training and mentorship to junior penetration testers and IT staff as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in ethical hacking, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment.
• Certification such as CEH, OSCP, or similar is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, tools, and protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think like an attacker.
• Experience with both automated testing tools and manual testing techniques.
• Excellent communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to diverse stakeholders.
