Job Description

The role of an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineer is crucial in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. They are responsible for designing, developing, and managing a wide range of projects focused on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a building. MEP Engineers work across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and industrial. They ensure that all systems are designed and implemented correctly, efficiently, and sustainably while complying with local regulations and standards. The position requires a blend of technical skills, creativity, and project management expertise to successfully handle complex projects from conception to completion. MEP Engineers collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver innovative and efficient designs that enhance building functionality and sustainability.


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for buildings.
  • Collaborate with architects and other engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to oversee project progress and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed specifications, calculations, and drawings for MEP systems.
  • Utilize software tools like AutoCAD and Revit for MEP system modeling.
  • Ensure all MEP designs adhere to local building codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve any design or engineering issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during project construction phases.
  • Analyze and suggest improvements for existing MEP systems efficiency.
  • Develop cost estimates and manage project budgets for MEP installations.
  • Participate in sustainability initiatives to promote energy-efficient designs.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for MEP systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience working on MEP projects within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and other MEP design software tools.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • PMP or relevant professional certification is considered an asset.
