Job Description

As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of dental practices by providing support to dentists during procedures and ensuring that patients feel at ease and informed throughout their visit. Your expertise will contribute to the delivery of high-quality oral healthcare and patient satisfaction. You will manage key aspects of clinical and administrative duties, ranging from preparing treatment rooms to assisting in complex dental procedures. Your role will demand a keen attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You'll collaborate closely with dental professionals to deliver excellent care and maintain a sterile and comforting environment for patients of all ages.


Responsibilities

  • Assist dentist during dental procedures by handing tools and materials.
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment for procedures.
  • Welcome and greet patients, and ensure their comfort throughout treatment.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
  • Educate patients about oral hygiene and care instructions following dental procedures.
  • Sterilize and organize dental instruments and working areas efficiently.
  • Follow infection control procedures to ensure a safe, clean environment for patients.
  • Take patient dental and medical histories and vital signs for record-keeping.
  • Maintain a supply inventory and order dental supplies and materials as needed.
  • Ensure proper management and disposal of biohazardous waste according to regulations.
  • Assist with taking dental radiographs (X-rays) and processing them for diagnosis.
  • Coordinate with front office staff for seamless patient services and support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of dental assistant program preferred.
  • Certification from an accredited dental assisting program is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience working as a dental assistant with strong skills.
  • Excellent understanding of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.
  • Exceptional communication skills to explain procedures and care instructions effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of dental healthcare regulations and infection control protocols.
