Roles & Responsibilities - New Product Development - Polyester

• Ensure full compliance with safety, health and environmental guidelines according to company standards in all areas of responsibility, including laboratory facilities and testing equipment. Promote safety behaviour according to the above guidelines.
• Preparation & Maintain ISO documents as per NPD projects.
• Synthesis & Development of Polyester or other polymers for different coating applications like powder coating, solvent & water borne coatings for exterior, interior & protective paints.
• Design, agree, plan and independently carry out product development, innovative experimental programs in agreed timeline.
• Understand customer/product requirements and specifications. Drives innovation in coatings, adhesives and allied areas.
• Independently seek information and find solutions to problems encountered during the execution of the experimental programs. Communicate periodically the outputs, conclusions and recommendations to the project stakeholders in order to provide a technical basis for strategic decisions.
• Participate in reviews of deliverables and carry our formal and informal review of technical designs, standards, documentation and/or implementation
• Consider broad range of options and apply sound judgment to develop solutions within the specific specialization
• Assist others in identifying complex technical problems and investigating root cause of problems with SMART recommendations
• Write technical reports in line with the report guidelines and secure peer review and line management approval prior to publication. Draft invention reports and contribute to authoring of patents where relevant.
• Participate in Technical forums (exhibitions, innovation award programs, Webinars etc.)
• Publish technical papers, file patent, invention disclosures
• Analyses assigned product development projects to determine what must be done to solve the problems in question. Plan the methods necessary for their solution. Conduct necessary literature and patent searches and assess utility of information for projects
• should know techniques like DOE (design of experiments), DFMEA (Design failure mode analysis), Root cause analysis, effect of chemical structures on properties.
• Must have good knowledge/ hand on experience in different types of resin chemistries particularly Polyester chemistry, polymer synthesis & it’s application into coatings, adhesives, equipment’s & testing
• Maintains knowledge of CASE (coating, adhesive, sealant) industry trends globally.
