Job Description

A Junior Sous Chef plays a vital role in the culinary team of a restaurant, hotel, or any institution with food services. As a Junior Sous Chef, you will work under the guidance of the Head Chef and Sous Chef, contributing to the kitchen's efficiency and creativity. You will assist in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring all health and safety standards are adhered to in the kitchen. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in creating menus that meet quality standards and budget.
  • Ensure consistent preparation and the highest quality presentation of dishes.
  • Oversee daily food preparation and maintain operational excellence in the kitchen.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff and maintain seamless food production processes.
  • Manage and motivate kitchen staff to deliver exceptional culinary experiences.
  • Assist in training new kitchen staff and developing existing team members' skills.
  • Contribute to maintaining inventory and order supplies as needed for the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards always.
  • Provide creative input for menu planning and recipe development processes.
  • Help maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Fill in for the Sous Chef during emergencies and absences as necessary.
  • Assist with planning and executing special events and private functions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a busy kitchen environment is required.
  • Culinary Arts degree or related certification is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Excellent ability to work well and keep calm under pressure situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and recipes is essential.
  • A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
