Job Description

The Housekeeping Supervisor is a pivotal member of the hospitality team, responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, developing work schedules, and ensuring that all housekeeping activities are carried out in accordance with established standards. The Housekeeping Supervisor will be required to establish high cleanliness standards, train and motivate the housekeeping staff, and manage inventory. They must balance efficiency with the need to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for all guests. Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role. The Housekeeping Supervisor is a direct point of contact for both staff and guests, and they must exhibit excellent communication skills to ensure satisfaction and resolve any issues effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the housekeeping department efficiently.
  • Inspect guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness standards.
  • Train, coach, and develop staff to ensure a high level of performance.
  • Maintain and manage inventory levels for cleaning supplies and equipment appropriately.
  • Develop and implement housekeeping policies to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints regarding housekeeping services effectively and courteously.
  • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection process of new housekeeping staff.
  • Create and maintain employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals and updates within the department.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to maintain overall hotel quality.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as preparing reports and maintaining records accurately.
  • Monitor and evaluate housekeeping activities and take corrective measures when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher education is preferred for the position.
  • Previous supervisory experience in housekeeping or a related industry is necessary.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team successfully.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain cleaning standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills are required for interacting with staff and guests.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping operations and cleaning supplies and equipment is essential.
