Job Description
The Drafter is responsible for preparing and revising technical drawings that accurately represent products, tooling, and processes. This role ensures all drawings meet established drafting standards, guidelines, and quality requirements. Utilizing AutoCAD and other drafting software, the Drafter maintains consistency and precision across all documentation to support engineering, manufacturing, and production activities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Create precise technical drawings using CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD tools.
- Convert hand sketches and verbal instructions into accurate CAD drawings.
- Prepare detailed fabrication drawings for tanks, manholes, and related assemblies in accordance with design and project specifications.
- Prepare layouts, detailed drawings, and assembly diagrams for construction or manufacturing.
- Revise drawings and layouts to accommodate changes or modifications requested by the engineering team.
- Ensure all designs are documented and meet the required standards and codes.
- Review designs for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
- Assist in preparing documentation and reports related to project designs and materials.
- Prepare bills of materials based on drawings.
- Assist with the development of design standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with project team to ensure timely completion of drafts.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in CAD technology and design trends.
- Execute assigned drafting tasks within defined schedules and project timelines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
- Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy.
- Be fully familiar and fully conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times.
- Coordinate with other departments and perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
Education & Experience Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting within the field of mechanical equipment design, including tanks and piping.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and procedures.
- 2D and 3D CAD Design. Preferably AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Problem Solving Skills.
