This role at Enphase requires working onsite 3 days a week, with plans to transition back to a full 5 day in office schedule over time.
About The Role
As a Staff Hardware Engineer, you will be part of the Product Engineering team, who are responsible for developing new products, improving existing products and maintaining throughout their lifecycle, including feature or performance enhancement, hardware fixes and addressing obsolescence issues. The team is an integrated, multi-disciplinary group that is fast-moving and looking for motivated individuals that can contribute and collaborate closely with the team to deliver innovative solutions.
What you will be doing
Develop new products and variants through the product lifecycle
Specify engineering requirements and support creating test plans and generate test reports in JAMA
Design and develop high-speed multi-layer PCBs for Electric vehicle charging applications and Embedded computing systems
Perform schematic capture, component selection and layout using tools like Orcad & Cadence Allegro
Conduct signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) simulations using tools such as HyperLynx, Sigrity
Work with cross-functional teams to define board architecture, stack-up, and routing strategies
Collaborate with mechanical, firmware and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance
Validate board performance through lab testing, debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Hands-on bring up and performance characterization of hardware circuits, PCBs and energy system hardware (relays, power meters, power converters, communications devices, etc)
Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC standards and participate in certification processes
Support manufacturing of electronic design hardware, electrical assemblies and PCBAs for prototype products
Who You Are And What You Bring
B.E. and 8+ years’ experience outside of university or Masters and 6+ years
Strong hands-on experience on High-speed board design and signal integrity
Experience with Microcontrollers and Microprocessors based systems
Experience with common communication protocols such as DDR4, USB 3.x, LVDS, RGMII, eMMC, SPI, I2C
Experience working with Ethernet switching Technology such as Fast Ethernet, Gigabit, 10GbaseT
Experience in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, PLC (Power line Communication) CAN & RS485 interfaces
Experience in Mixed-signal, Analog and Power electronics
Proficiency in PCB design and simulation tools
Experience with impedance control, differential pair routing, and length matching
Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT)
Excellent circuit debugging and troubleshooting capabilities
Experience in EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) filter design and product qualification/compliance testing
Experience in writing technical documents such as hardware requirements, product design specifications, test specifications and board-level design details
Should be familiar with Lab equipment like oscilloscope, Power sources, Electronic Loads etc
Familiar with Modelling & simulation tools like LTSpice, Pspice, HyperLynx, etc
Ability to take ownership of development tasks and drive them to completion in a timely manner and with high quality to support team success
What would make you stand out?
Significant experience in one or more of these areas:
Hands-on experience with RF circuit design and antenna tuning
Good understanding of Embedded software development and working in a Test Automation environment
In addition to High-speed skills, good in Power Electronics circuits which includes power supply and inverter topologies
Good understanding of Product validation, compliance and electrical grid standards
Familiarity with the UL & IEC standards on safety & EMI/EMC
