Job Description

A Network Security Engineer plays a crucial role in safeguarding an organization's computer systems and networks. In the digital age, where cyber threats are increasingly sophisticated, a Network Security Engineer is pivotal in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data and information systems. This position involves developing, implementing, and maintaining security protocols and policies, conducting risk assessments, and responding to security breaches. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network architecture, firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and various security protocols. The role demands a proactive individual who can anticipate potential threats, implement solutions swiftly, and stay abreast of the latest trends in cybersecurity.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructure to protect organizational data.
  • Monitor network traffic regularly to identify and respond to suspicious activities.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to evaluate security posture.
  • Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into all stages of network design.
  • Respond to and investigate network security breaches in a timely manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and other security appliances.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members on security protocols.
  • Prepare regular reports on the security status, incidents, and improvement efforts.
  • Keep abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends and emerging threats.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational cybersecurity policies.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and business continuity exercises.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network security or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and security appliances.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and managing security incidents effectively.
  • Proficient in security tools such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, and antivirus software.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or GDPR.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
