We are seeking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer (Battery Packs) to join our team. As a Battery Pack Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing battery pack systems for Mining machineries like Trucks, Loaders, Drill rigs etc. You will lead the mechanical design process, from concept generation to prototype testing and production implementation. Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of battery technology, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of battery systems.
Job Description:
Design, develop the mechanical design activities of battery pack systems and components, ensure the structural integrity and vibration resistance of pack enclosures, Integrate the battery pack sub systems like thermal management, Main electronics, and other battery safety systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, thermal and control system team to develop innovative battery pack solutions.
Perform feasibility studies and provide technical assessments to evaluate the suitability of different design concepts for battery pack applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications, ensure manufacturability, and meet project goals.
Conduct design reviews and Brainstorming sessions to evaluate concepts.
Develop and maintain design guidelines, standards, and best practices for battery pack mechanical design.
Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure compliance with battery regulatory standards and safety requirements.
Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation to support the manufacturing and assembly of battery packs.
Prepare engineering documents, including wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOM)
Create and manage design validation reports and testing documentation
Collaborate with other departments to resolve conflicts and ensure alignment on project deliverables
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes for battery pack production
Oversee prototype fabrication and testing, and analyze test data to identify design issues and implement necessary modifications
Support the transition of designs from prototype to production, addressing any design-related issues and ensuring smooth production ramp-up
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in battery pack design, and apply them to enhance product performance and efficiency
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design and development, with significant exposure to battery pack development, EV development.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge Requirement:
Familiarity with industry-standard practices for design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes. Attention to detail, with a focus on producing high-quality designs and documentation.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CREO, or similar) and experience with PLM engineering tools (e.g., Teamcenter, or similar)
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work in a cross-functional team environment.
Having an understanding of structural simulation is beneficial.
