This role will be responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes in the bronze foundry including new product development. This role focuses on improving yield, productivity, quality, and safety while optimizing costs. The candidate must have a strong understanding of metallurgy, casting processes, especially bronze alloys, and experience in process engineering, tooling, and automation.


Key Responsibilities:


Process Design & Optimization:

  • Develop and optimize foundry processes such as mold design for sand casting, Gravity Die Cast (GDC), core making, melting, pouring, fettling, and heat treatment.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and implement improvements to reduce cycle time and scrap.
  • Design and implement efficient workflows to improve casting accuracy, process reliability and overall productivity.
  • Recommend and implement automation in processes/products, where applicable.


Tooling & Equipment:

  • Design and procure jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve casting precision and reduce manual handling.
  • Recommend and implement automation solutions where applicable.
  • Lead new product development and ensure smooth transition from design to production - RPQ, negotiation, tooling development, sample parts production etc.


Quality & Compliance:

  • Work closely with the Quality department to address non-conformities and improve casting quality by addressing casting defects through root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure processes comply with ISO standards and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Create/maintain/manage Engineering documents like SOPs, work instruments and process control charts


Project Management:

  • Lead new product developments and manage engineering changes incl. CAPEX/budget justification.
  • Drive cost-reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives incl. value stream mapping.


Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Design/IT teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Train shopfloor personnel on process changes and best practices.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in mechanical/metallurgical engineering.
  • 8–12 years of experience in a foundry environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Hands on bronze casting and metallurgy.
  • Familiarity with simulation software (e.g., MAGMA / ProCAST) & design software is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
