Responsible To : Design and development of Access products like Doors and Door mechanism for India and Globe
Main Purpose
- Lead the design and development of door systems for transit applications.
- Manage the full product lifecycle including engineering change board activities, 3D modeling and drawing creation using Creo and Teamcenter.
- Handle obsolescence management and spare parts planning for door and access products.
Responsibilities
- Interpret existing designs and propose alternatives for obsolescence and spare part needs.
- Apply GD&T and perform stack-up analysis.
- Lead engineering change requests for product improvements.
- Define weld specifications per BS EN 15085 and BS EN ISO 2553.
- Design sheet metal and mechanical parts using Creo.
- Generate and manage BOMs.
- Conduct requirement analysis and develop technical specifications.
- Propose and select optimal design concepts for detailed engineering.
- Perform detailed design including DFX, DFMEA, engineering calculations, material selection, and manufacturability studies.
- Design and select hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical actuation mechanisms.
- Prepare validation specifications, manufacturing, assembly, and service instructions.
- Track and report project metrics including design reviews, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Promote a culture of speed, simplification, collaboration, and innovation.
- Communicate project status and deliverables effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ensure projects meet budget, operational, and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications / Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or STEM disciplines.
- 8+ years of experience in door system design for trains, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries.
- Expertise in kinematic design, conveyor belts, actuators, robotics, and motor selection.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and processes
