Job Description

Our upscale restaurant is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in the kitchen, working closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the highest quality standards in food preparation and presentation. Your creativity and culinary expertise will contribute to crafting exceptional dining experiences for our guests. You will be responsible for assisting in menu development, overseeing kitchen operations, and ensuring the efficient, smooth running of the kitchen. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning and development to ensure diverse offerings.
  • Supervise kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation.
  • Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff to enhance their culinary skills.
  • Oversee inventory management to maintain appropriate levels of supplies and ingredients.
  • Manage kitchen operations during peak hours to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
  • Implement and maintain standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality presentations.
  • Monitor food wastage and take measures to reduce spoilage in the kitchen.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to communicate changes and operational expectations.
  • Assist in budget management and cost control to maintain profitable kitchen operations.
  • Foster a positive and motivating kitchen environment to encourage team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in an upscale dining environment.
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or a similar role in high-end restaurants.
  • Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards is required.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a diverse kitchen team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on food quality and presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with culinary staff.
  • Proficiency in food costing and inventory management to optimize resources.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize kitchen tasks and manage time efficiently.
