Job Description

As a Restaurant Receptionist, you will be the welcoming face and voice of our dining establishment. You are expected to greet and manage guests in a friendly and efficient manner while ensuring that the seating arrangements and dining experiences are organized and seamless. Your role is crucial in setting the first impression, handling reservations, managing wait lists, and assisting guests with any special requests. You must be able to communicate effectively with both guests and the restaurant staff to ensure an optimal dining experience. Being organized, personable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment are key attributes for succeeding in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with warmth and direct them to their tables promptly.
  • Manage reservations through booking systems and handle walk-in guests efficiently.
  • Answer phones courteously and handle inquiries regarding reservations and services.
  • Coordinate seating assignments and ensure effective table turn management.
  • Communicate closely with wait staff to coordinate and manage dining room flow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area and entryway at all times.
  • Notify servers of new guests and assist in training new reception staff members.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
  • Assist with special event coordination and manage any private reservations.
  • Provide guests with accurate wait times and assist in any special requests.
  • Monitor the dining area to minimize wait times and maintain a smooth flow.
  • Ensure that guests receive a high standard of service from arrival to departure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within hospitality or restaurants preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, welcoming demeanor required.
  • Proficiency with reservation and point-of-sale systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of food and beverages, including dietary restrictions and recommendations.
