A Day in Your Life at MKS:

Position: Lab and facility engineer

Reporting to: Head - Facility Maintenance (India)

You will partner internally with – GCC Engineering manager, Facility maintenance, VSD & PSD BU managers, administration, HSEQS, IT, procurement & finance for routine activities. You will also work with local VSD / PSD engineers and equipment specialists.

Externally, you will communicate with – Landlord, facility management company, local & central Govt. authorities.

Key responsibilities:

  • We at MKS seek a meticulous Engineering Lab Specialist/ facilitator to join our team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating and maintaining VSD and PSD laboratories along with office infrastructure.
  • Ensure MKS Lab / test center is managed in accordance with international and MKS standards by working closely with global BU managers of VSD & PSD
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure inventory of lab consumables, focus on quality, and create network with other BU lab teams, SMEs etc,
  • Calibration of all VSD/ PSD instruments and schedule maintenance of equipment’s, test stands as per the defined check list by the BU’’s
  • Work closely with BU managers/ India team regarding compliance with local regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and BU’’s, to ensure effective communication and coordination of document control activities.
  • Generate reports and metrics related to lab activities, document control processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide training and support to users on laboratory document control procedures and systems.
  • The incumbent may have to work in shifts and during off-hours / holidays if required.
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Within India: Yes, to MSD CS lab in Bangalore & Manesar HO
    • Out of India: Yes, if required by VSD / PSD BU managers
Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain legal documents, drawing and approval related to GCC lab, facility equipment and office
  • Overseas Planed preventive maintenance, emergency, and unscheduled facility repair activities
  • Reviews all plans for renovation, repair, or replacement of any facility equipment
  • Assist Administration manager in managing CS Lab’s facility located in electronics city
  • Maintain IMS documentation in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
  • Manage operating cost of GCC lab & office. Prepare facility related MIS reports.
  • Coordinate with Landlord for day to functioning of GCC lab / office and ensure landlord is providing agreed services.
  • Verify monthly rent, CAM and electricity invoices provided by the landlord.
  • Control outsourced workforce provided by facility management company.
  • Maintain PM records of facility equipment as per OEM and MKS standards.
  • Clear maintenance tickets / HSE NM / legatrix tasks raised by internal customers

Skills You Bring:

  • Level of formal education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation or Electrical engineering
  • Years of job-related work experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in lab, test center, functional testing in a semi-conductor Industry or similar field is preferred
  • Strong diligence and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Experience with lab, test center, functional testing, document control processes and systems, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g. Semiconductors, Chips, Core Engineering (Mechanical/Electronics/Firmware/lab view/software,).
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with project planning concepts and tools is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a challenging environment.
  • Basic understating of layout drawings, preparation of small project BOQs
  • Knowledge of LT Panel, SLD, control wiring, AMF Panel, ACBs, HT VCB & various safeties.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply policies / procedures of MKS and local/ central government.
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, & equipment used in the operation & maintenance.

Preferred Skills: (Optional)

  • Previous experience of managing semiconductor equipment lab.
  • Working knowledge of ARIBA, SAP & SAP-PM
  • Working knowledge of MS project
  • Knowledge of PLC, BMS, Access control & Fire detection /PA system
  • Understanding of operation & maintenance of HVAC system & clean room area maintenance
  • Legal and functional knowledge of pressure vassals and gas storage / distribution system

Supervisory Scope: (Optional)

  • Reporting Relationships: 3 to 5 contractual workers
  • Financial Responsibility: Managing site budget in consultation with Head - Facility Maintenance (India)

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Physically fit to move with weight of up to 50 lbs & willing to undergo medical test if required.
  • Operates in a laboratory/manufacturing environment.
  • Should be able to work in noisy areas with PPEs.
  • Ability to wear & use respirator or other artificial breathing apparatus.

HSE, 5S and compliance

  • Maintains safety culture; attend and execute regular safety training and audits.
  • Work closely with the local HSE team, ensure compliance, and work proactively to ensure a safe work environment.
