Job Description

An HSE&C (Health, Safety, Environment, and Compliance) Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of employees, as well as the environment, within an organization. This professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety strategies that comply with legal regulations and industry best practices. Often acting as a liaison between management and employees, the HSE&C Advisor ensures that safety protocols are properly understood and implemented at all levels. The position requires keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and drive change across various departments. An effective HSE&C Advisor not only emphasizes adherence to policies but also promotes a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide training and education to employees on safety and compliance protocols.
  • Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with management to define safety goals and performance indicators.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Serve as a liaison between organization and regulatory agencies during inspections.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and environmental responsibility among staff.
  • Advise on the implementation of emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE&C regulations and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to address health and safety concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an HSE&C advisory role.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations and laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse work environments.
  • Proven experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis methodologies.
  • Ability to conduct thorough audits and risk assessments independently and accurately.
  • Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP) or similar certification is highly desired.
