Job Description

The Assistant Manager (Maintenance) is a pivotal role within the maintenance department, responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of all maintenance activities. This position requires a meticulous and proactive individual who can lead a team of skilled technicians to maintain and repair equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or electrical maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to implement preventive maintenance strategies. Keeping downtime to a minimum and ensuring reliability and safety across all systems are paramount in this role. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Assistant Manager will work closely with various departments to support production objectives and improve processes.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff to ensure timely job completion.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and document repair activities regularly.
  • Monitor and control maintenance budgets to reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Manage the procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize maintenance schedules smoothly.
  • Assess maintenance needs and prioritize tasks according to urgency and impact.
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff to improve skills constantly.
  • Evaluate maintenance processes and recommend improvements for efficiency.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance activities for internal audits and reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance or a similar role.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing a maintenance team.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with various department heads.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and applications.
