Cardiac Technician (225-928)

A Cardiac Technician plays an essential role in the medical field, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of heart-related issues. They work alongside cardiologists to conduct various cardiovascular tests and procedures, such as electrocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitoring. Cardiac Technicians operate sophisticated medical equipment to monitor patients' heart activity, ensuring accurate readings and data for effective diagnosis and treatment. This position requires a strong understanding of cardiovascular technology, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Responsibilities

• Conduct and interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs) to assess heart rhythms and patterns.
• Assist cardiologists with stress tests to evaluate heart performance under physical strain.
• Set up and monitor Holter and event monitors to record and analyze heart activity continuously.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explaining each step to ensure comfort and compliance.
• Maintain and calibrate cardiovascular equipment to ensure accurate diagnostics and safety.
• Ensure accurate recording of test results for reporting and analysis by the medical team.
• Monitor patients during procedures, noting any irregularities in heart function or patient condition.
• Document patient history related to cardiac tests to assist in comprehensive care planning.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team about patient test results and condition changes.
• Educate patients and their families about heart health and the importance of follow-up care.
• Participate in quality assurance and improvement processes within the cardiology department.
• Stay updated on advancements in cardiovascular technology and diagnostic procedures.

Requirements

• Completion of a Cardiac Technician certification program from an accredited institution.
• Proven experience in cardiac testing, including EKGs and stress testing, is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with patient care procedures and safety standards in a healthcare setting.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure accurate test results.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and medical staff.
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently when required.
