Fiber Optic Technician (225-803)

As a Fiber Optic Technician, you will be an essential member of our telecommunications team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cable lines. Your expertise in handling optical fibers, splicing techniques, and telecommunication infrastructures will enable us to deliver high-speed internet and voice services to our customers. You will work both independently and as part of a dynamic team to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues effectively. Your role will involve working with state-of-the-art technology to enhance our network reliability and performance, ensuring our customers have access to the best communication services available. Responsibilities

• Install and configure fiber optic cables, both underground and aerial.
• Conduct site surveys to determine optimal equipment placement and configuration.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing fiber optic networks.
• Splice and terminate fiber optic cables with precision and accuracy.
• Test fiber optic cables using specialized equipment to ensure integrity.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic network issues effectively and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of fiber optic installations and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with network engineers to improve fiber optic network performance.
• Ensure all work complies with established safety standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support and customer service to resolve connectivity issues.

• Train and mentor junior technicians in fiber optic installation techniques.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a fiber optic technician.
• Proficiency with fiber optic splicing and testing equipment.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and optical networks.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and network schematics effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are crucial.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces as required.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
