Job Description

An IT Support Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the technological backbone of a company, ensuring that all IT-related operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position involves diagnosing technical issues and providing solutions to employees or customers experiencing hardware or software problems. The IT Support Engineer must exhibit skills in troubleshooting, system maintenance, and user support. This professional is often the first point of contact for employees facing technical difficulties, making strong communication skills vital. The engineer works with various teams to implement system upgrades, resolve network issues, and optimize IT infrastructure. A keen eye for detail, a passion for technology, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential traits for success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting for software and hardware issues.
  • Respond to and resolve support tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer workstations and related hardware and software.
  • Monitor system performance and perform necessary upgrades or patches as needed.
  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Document all support activities and maintain detailed service records for future reference.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
  • Engage with vendors and suppliers to obtain necessary IT products and services.
  • Provide training and assistance to users on new technologies and software updates.
  • Maintain the security of the network by implementing necessary security protocols.
  • Support the IT team in developing and testing disaster recovery plans and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support or a similar technical role for at least two years.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical terms clearly.
  • Experience with various operating systems, including Windows and MacOS.
  • Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent is highly desirable.
