Job Description

As an Associate Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the purchasing department by coordinating and executing buying activities to ensure optimal product assortment and inventory levels. You will work closely with senior buyers and vendors to bring in products that meet the company’s quality standards and financial targets. Your keen sense of market trends, product knowledge, and negotiation skills will be instrumental in securing the best deals and enhancing the company's product offering. Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing purchasing strategies in line with organizational goals.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, potential suppliers, and pricing dynamics.
  • Collaborate with senior buyers to evaluate potential suppliers based on their product quality, pricing, and delivery times.
  • Negotiate with vendors to secure the most advantageous terms, including pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock while meeting sales demand.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure products are accurately represented and marketed.
  • Maintain and update a database of suppliers, pricing, and product specifications.
  • Analyze sales data to anticipate buying needs and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities and provide insights to senior management.
  • Resolve issues related to order discrepancies, invoicing, and deliveries with suppliers.
  • Support product development initiatives by sourcing materials and negotiating costs.
  • Participate in trade shows and vendor meetings to foster relationships and source new products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar buying or purchasing role.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successful vendor management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and market data.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with vendors and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software applications.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management practices.
  • Ability to travel to meet with vendors and attend market shows as needed.
