Job Description

As an Assistant Professor in VFX (Animation), you will play a crucial role in shaping the minds and skills of future animation professionals. This position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in visual effects and animation, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic community through research and collaboration. The role requires a passionate and knowledgeable individual capable of delivering a high-quality educational experience. You will be responsible for developing and updating course curricula, coordinating with industry professionals, and engaging with students to foster a dynamic and innovative learning environment. In addition to teaching, you are expected to engage in scholarly activities, publish research findings, and participate in department and faculty meetings. Your expertise will help advance the field of animation and visual effects through academic excellence and industry relevance.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach courses related to animation and visual effects to students.
  • Offer expert guidance to students on projects and practical assignments in animation.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Integrate the latest industry trends and technologies into educational content and delivery.
  • Provide students with constructive feedback to improve their skills and techniques.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to discussions on academic policies.
  • Conduct research and publish papers in reputable journals to contribute to academic knowledge.
  • Engage with the industry to keep course content relevant and up-to-date.
  • Supervise and mentor students on their thesis and capstone projects effectively.
  • Organize workshops and seminars to enhance student learning and professional development.
  • Maintain office hours for student consultations and academic advisement sessions.
  • Assist in the accreditation processes and program reviews as required by the institution.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's degree in Animation, Visual Effects, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the college or university level preferred.
  • Proven industry experience in animation, preferably in a lead or senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of software such as Maya, Blender, or Adobe After Effects.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for effective teaching and learning.
  • Proven track record of research in animation or visual effects with published works.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external industry partners.
