Job Description

A Dental Assistant is an integral part of any dental healthcare team, providing essential support to dentists and ensuring patient comfort and seamless operation within the dental practice. The role requires proficiency in chairside assistance, where the Dental Assistant prepares instruments, materials, and provides real-time assistance to the dentist during various procedures. This dynamic position involves both clinical and administrative duties including patient preparation, handling dental records, and managing appointments. A successful candidate will exhibit a high level of attention to detail and possess excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with both patients and colleagues. Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures with efficiency.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs, following all radiation safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment before each patient appointment.
  • Ensure patient comfort by seating them and providing protective equipment.
  • Educate patients about good oral healthcare practices and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, entering information into dental management systems.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, manage patient flow in consultation rooms.
  • Provide support to dental team members during diverse clinical tasks and procedures.
  • Manage inventory of dental supplies, ensuring timely ordering and restocking.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a sterile and safe environment.
  • Assist with dental billing and insurance claims as required by the practice.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance professional skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, certified dental assistant preferred.
  • Completion of a dental assistant training program is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology and chairside techniques.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to educate and calm patients.
  • Proven ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency with dental software for record keeping and scheduling appointments.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning new skills.
