About The Role

As an Email Developer, you will code responsive, dynamic, and error-free email templates, ensuring flawless execution across platforms and devices. You’ll support Account Managers and Designers by providing quick fixes, maintaining QA, and developing reusable components that scale.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on attention to detail, speed, and collaboration. Your work directly impacts campaign performance, client trust, and Optimite’s reputation as the fastest, most reliable email partner.

You’ll focus on Coding & Development (50%), QA & Escalations (30%), and Collaboration & System Improvement (20%).

What will you do?

Coding & Development (50%)

  • Deliver responsive, pixel-perfect HTML/CSS templates for emails.
  • Ensure cross-device and cross-client compatibility for all builds.
  • Maintain accessibility and load-time standards for all campaigns.
  • Implement advanced coding (AMP, interactive elements, modular systems).
  • Build and maintain reusable code modules for faster delivery.

Metrics You’ll Own:

  • On-Time Delivery: ≥ 95% SLA compliance.
  • Accessibility Compliance: 100% WCAG/ARIA standards logged in QA.
  • Advanced Coding: ≥ 1 interactive/AMP project per quarter.
  • Load Time: ≤ 2 seconds across major inboxes.
  • Reusable Modules: ≥ 2 per quarter implemented.

QA & Escalations (30%)

  • Conduct comprehensive QA across devices, browsers, and inboxes.
  • Validate deliverability using tools (Litmus, Email on Acid).
  • Ensure builds are error-free before deployment.
  • Respond quickly to urgent client fixes and escalations.

Metrics You’ll Own:

  • QA Coverage: ≥ 95% device/browser testing logged.
  • Error-Free Builds: ≤ 2% post-delivery error rate.
  • Critical Escalations: ≤ 12 hrs turnaround.
  • Urgent Builds: ≤ 24 hrs turnaround.

Collaboration & System Improvement (20%)

  • Partner with Designers to ensure 95% design-to-build accuracy.
  • Document and update reusable code learnings monthly.
  • Participate in cross-functional syncs to align on campaigns.
  • Share development best practices with the wider team.

Metrics You’ll Own:

  • Design Accuracy: ≥ 95% design match.
  • Documentation: ≥ 1 reusable code/process doc per month.
  • Knowledge Sharing: ≥ 1 learning session/quarter (can be async Looms).
  • Cross-Functional Responsiveness: ≤ 24 hrs for internal queries.

Reporting Cadence

  • Daily → QA logs and fixes tracked in ClickUp.
  • Weekly → Dev/design sync and issue tracker review.
  • Monthly → Error trend analysis and process refinements.
  • Quarterly → Reusable component library update + review with Head of D&D.

Must Have

  • 3–5 years of experience in email development.
  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, MJML, and responsive coding.
  • Familiarity with Klaviyo, Beepro, Stripo, Mailchimp, or similar ESPs.
  • Strong QA mindset with experience in tools like Litmus/Email on Acid.
  • Ability to troubleshoot cross-platform issues independently.
  • High attention to detail and accountability for zero-error delivery.

Good to Have

  • Knowledge of AMP for Email and interactive elements.
  • Experience with automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n).
  • Basic understanding of APIs for personalization and dynamic content.
  • Exposure to workflow/project management tools like ClickUp or Asana.
  • Familiarity with eCommerce marketing KPIs (CTR, ROAS, conversions).
