Job Description

As a Jr. Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our kitchen. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation activities. Your role is pivotal in maintaining the high quality of our meals, supervising junior kitchen staff, and ensuring that all food served meets our standards of excellence. You will contribute to menu planning, manage inventory, and ensure that the kitchen complies with all safety and hygiene regulations. This position is perfect for those passionate about culinary excellence and eager to develop their leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations and management.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Contribute to menu planning, suggesting innovative and seasonal dishes.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate junior kitchen staff to perform at their best.
  • Maintain inventory levels, ensuring that all necessary ingredients are stocked adequately.
  • Ensure the kitchen meets health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist in managing food costs by minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
  • Coordinate with the dining staff to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
  • Handle any kitchen emergencies or customer complaints with professionalism.
  • Participate in relevant culinary training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support the team in carrying out any other necessary kitchen duties as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Jr. Sous Chef or a similar position in a restaurant.
  • Strong understanding of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire junior staff.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and experience with implementing health regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Formal culinary training from a recognized program is highly desirable.
