Job Description

The role of a Site Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is integral to ensuring that construction or operational sites comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. This position is suitable for individuals who possess a strong understanding of safety procedures, risk management, and compliance standards related to occupational safety and environmental protection. The Site HSE Officer actively works to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents by implementing effective safety policies and procedures. This role often involves providing HSE guidance, conducting safety inspections, and liaising with regulatory bodies. An effective Site HSE Officer should exhibit excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to promote a culture of safety across an organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement site-specific HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Lead safety training sessions and workshops for site employees and contractors.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective gear are in good condition.
  • Promote a culture of safety by encouraging proactive hazard reporting.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of safety activities, incidents, and compliance reports.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and update emergency response plans.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure site compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of risk management strategies.
  • Provide clear communication of any changes in safety protocols to all staff.
  • Support site management in delivering HSE objectives and maintaining safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Site HSE Officer or in a similar role.
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey safety information clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks and recommend safety measures.
  • Certification in safety management, such as CSP, NEBOSH, or equivalent, is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
