The Senior API Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that meet the requirements of business stakeholders and integrate seamlessly with existing systems. This role requires a deep understanding of software architecture and the ability to create APIs that are scalable, secure, and efficient. The Specialist works closely with other developers and IT professionals to ensure that the APIs meet the functional and non-functional requirements and adhere to industry standards. The Senior API Specialist also plays a crucial role in troubleshooting and optimizing existing APIs, providing guidance and best practices to junior developers, and staying current with emerging technology trends.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful APIs that cater to business requirements and system architecture.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive API documentation for internal and external developers.
• Ensure API performance, security, and scalability through effective architecture and design.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API specifications and integration strategies.
• Create and execute test plans to ensure API functionality and reliability.

Requirements

• Proven experience with designing and implementing APIs in a professional setting.
• Strong knowledge of REST architecture and API design best practices.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with API management tools and platforms, like Apigee or Postman.
• Solid understanding of security protocols, such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, and SSL.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with cloud services and microservices architecture is an advantage.
