Job Description

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer plays a critical role in ensuring workplace health and safety standards are maintained by developing, implementing, and overseeing policies that reduce risk and promote safety awareness among employees. HSE Officers are necessary for enforcing regulations, guidelines, and safety measures to maintain a work environment that protects employees, equipment, and the surrounding environment. This position requires a person who is detail-oriented, with extensive knowledge of safety protocols, and statutory compliance. The HSE Officer also works closely with management and staff at all levels to ensure adherence to safety procedures. This role demands continual education on new safety protocols and regulations, thorough investigation of workplace incidents, and preparation of analytical reports related to safety operations and improvements.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies across the organization.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Train employees and management on safety protocols, emergency response, and accident prevention.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents and prepare detailed investigation reports.
  • Maintain records of safety-related incidents, training programs, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support in risk assessments and the development of risk control measures.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and workplace safety audits.
  • Lead initiatives to promote environmental sustainability practices within the workplace.
  • Collaborate with external safety and health organizations when necessary.
  • Continuously review and improve safety policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Ensure all safety equipment and emergency protocols are maintained and operable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in health and safety, such as NEBOSH or OSHA, is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the health and safety sector.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Experience in conducting safety training and preparing instructional materials.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and database management systems.
  • Can start immediately
