The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Sharjah, UAE.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.
Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Electrical Discipline Manager, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned Electrical engineering work scopes
- To prepare Electrical deliverables for a project in the oil and gas industry, and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures
- To carry out sizing calculations for electrical equipment such as Cables, Earthing System, Lighting System, Transformers, Switchboards
- To prepare/provide input to designers for Single Line Diagrams, Protection and Metering Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Interconnection drawings
- To prepare/provide input to designers for Cable Routing Layouts, Lighting Layouts, Earthing Layouts and associated MTOs
- To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
- To promote safe behaviour at all times
- To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning and start-up

Expected
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry or electrical power generation
- Minimum of 3 years’ proven capability in an engineering design company
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
- Highly motivated and self-reliant

- Good communicator with willingness to share knowledge and support others
- Strong commitment to safety
- Clear communicator with good interpersonal skills
