We are looking to recruit a Technical Superintendent & Port Engineer to join our team based in Dubai, UAE. In this role, you be responsible for being the technical support of Fugro owned vessels within the assigned MEI region. You will support the business lines in technical matters e.g. during the chartering of 3rd party vessels & for USV operations. You will ensure the regional availability of marine technical assurance whilst assisting in the establishment and execution of maintenance and repair work scopes in line with set global and regional standards. You will represent Fugro as a Port Engineer for Fugro managed assets towards key clients.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Management - Technical Advisor
- Collaborate with the team on technical matters.
- Advises the Vessel Manager on the technical status of each vessel.
- Advises the Vessel Manager on the technical budget requirement of each vessel.
- Ensures maintenance is properly specified, assists procurement on the tender process and advises on the bid tabulation for the final vend
- or selection.
Technical Management – Maintenance Systems
- Responsible for an up – to – date planned maintenance system.
- Reviews all planned, and repair work scopes reported and adjusts the planned maintenance programme in collaboration with the Maintenance a reliability engineers as required.
Technical Management – Maintenance & Repairs
- Continuously ensures that maintenance and repair work scopes are clearly specified for tender purposes.
- Act as the technical spokesperson for the vessels towards 3rd party service providers on technical matters.
- Act as the decision maker for ashore maintenance and repair works.
Port Engineer
- Being the Port Engineer, act as designated representative of assigned Fugro owned vessels and responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of vessel operations within a port, ensuring vessels are maintained and available to work.
- Optimize resource allocation to minimize downtime and enhance vessel availability for operations.
- Respond to technical emergencies, such as equipment failures or operational disruptions, providing rapid solutions to maintain port and vessel operations.
- Support sustainability team to reduce carbon emission aligned with regional requirements.
Vessel Assurance
- Responsible for an annual technical review of the vessel, reporting the technical state of the vessel and its equipment, including completeness of documentation, obsolesces prospects or issues.
- In collaboration with the Chief Engineer, conducts Technical Investigations and defines Root Causes for Technical Downtime events of the vessel and ensures that lessons learned are implemented.
- Executes vessel inspections upon the request of the Regional Fleet Manager.
Crew Management
- Review crew applicants, participates in crew interviews and provides feedback.
- Review performance of Master and Chief Engineers and provides the RFMVSI with input.
OH&S Management
- Responsible to carry out work as per IMS procedures, report all HSSE incidents and actively participate in all engagements as requested by the employer.
What Skills & Experience Will You Have?
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer STCW-95 III/2 (whitelist)
- Training matrix + Valid Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or marine engineering
- Previous experience as Chief Engineer (minimum 4 years) required, experience as Technical Superintendent preferred.
- Helicopter Escape & Underwater Training (HEUET) is an advantage
