Job Description

The role of a Senior Accountant is pivotal within any finance department, providing expert financial oversight and ensuring that all accounting activities adhere to established regulations and standards. This position involves managing and analyzing financial data, preparing accurate financial reports, and guiding the company's financial decisions with insight and precision. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in streamlining accounting functions and operations, providing leadership to accounting staff, and ensuring that financial statements are always audit-ready. With a focus on optimizing financial performance and enhancing long-term strategic viability, the Senior Accountant collaborates closely with financial executives and other departments within the organization to provide financial insight and recommendations.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring adherence to accounting principles.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial closings and reporting.
  • Develop and implement efficient accounting procedures and processes to enhance department effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure financial and operational integrity of accounting practices.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing insightful financial analysis to management.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP and other fiscal regulations.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance, working with external tax advisors when necessary.
  • Support financial audits and liaise with auditors to provide necessary documentation and information.
  • Lead, train, and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering skill development and career growth.
  • Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements.
  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
