Role Profile
This senior leadership role is pivotal in championing Health Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) across our ISMA, GDSC, and IDSR regions. By translating group-wide initiatives into regionally tailored strategies, this role ensures meaningful engagement with stakeholders and drives implementation that reflects local context and needs. Acting as a strategic integrator, it connects the core elements of our business to foster a culture of ethical excellence, prioritising the safety and security of our people and the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
Lead and coordinate HSW for the Region, ensuring effective implementation of Group and Regional HSW policy
Promote a culture where HSW underpins daily operational delivery as well as future strategic planning of the business
Provide leadership, guidance and oversight of MM’s Safety & Wellbeing plan across the Region
Reporting to the Regional General Manager on HSW culture and performance
Participation at Regional Board meetings, preparation and presentation of HSW board pack
Review Unit and project quality and HSE plans to ensure they are consistent with group and international standard requirements, effectively implemented and monitored through periodic site visit and audits.
Represent the ISMA Region externally, where required, including liaising with the enforcement authorities and other bodies as necessary
Work with the Learning and Development teams to create a learning environment by developing training and orientation sessions of HSW initiatives to be presented in the main and/or site offices
Ensure that all non-conformances generated during the course of an external/internal audit are closed out, reporting escalations and sharing findings where necessary
Planning and implementing an internal audit schedule to meet Group requirements for external ISO accreditation, including live construction or other operational project sites (regular and ad-hoc)
Candidate Specification
Degree qualified in any relevant discipline
Relevant health and safety qualifications and membership of recognised professional body (NEBOSH IOSH, CSP, BSC etc.) an auditor qualification is desirable
Significant experience in a similar role; experience of working in a senior HSW position
Ability to lead colleagues to recognise the value of the of HSW through modelling professional behaviours and using an empathetic and coaching mindset.
Capability to lead client thinking and market presence
The ability to influence management in identifying and managing risk
Being able to assess situations calmly and confidently in the full business context
Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects
Using leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating an effective collaborative working environment
