Job Description

A radiographer, also known as a radiologic technologist, plays a critical role in the healthcare industry by using imaging technologies, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and ultrasounds, to help diagnose and treat patients. They work closely with radiologists, other medical professionals, and patients to ensure high-quality imaging results. Radiographers must maintain a thorough understanding of different imaging procedures and equipment, prioritizing patient safety and comfort during the process. They adhere to strict safety regulations to minimize exposure to radiation for both patients and themselves. As part of their duties, radiographers are responsible for preparing patients for procedures, operating imaging equipment, and analyzing results to provide clear and accurate images for further diagnosis by physicians.


Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage imaging equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety standards.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining processes and addressing concerns.
  • Ensure the accurate positioning of patients to acquire quality diagnostic images.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and medical personnel to interpret and confirm imaging results.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all imaging procedures and patient information.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines to protect patients, staff, and themselves from radiation exposure.
  • Perform regular maintenance and quality control on imaging equipment to ensure reliability.
  • Update and maintain patient logs and imaging databases as required by the facility.
  • Assist in the implementation of new imaging technologies and techniques within the department.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients undergoing imaging procedures.
  • Conduct continuous professional development and training to stay updated with advancements in radiologic technology.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of radiographic and imaging procedures and safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and medical staff.
  • Attention to detail with a keen eye for accurate and high-quality imaging outcomes.
  • Ability to operate complex imaging machinery and perform routine maintenance checks.
  • Commitment to continuous education and professional development within the radiology field.
