Job Description

A Procurement Officer - Civil plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the procurement activities related to civil engineering projects. This role involves sourcing, acquiring, and coordinating materials, equipment, and services necessary for the execution of civil projects. The Procurement Officer is responsible for ensuring cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, and compliance with project requirements and standards. The role demands a keen understanding of the civil engineering field, market trends, supplier relationships, and negotiation skills. This position requires collaboration with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to facilitate the smooth execution of procurement processes, ensuring that every purchase meets the project's specifications and budget constraints.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize project purchasing activities.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and pricing structures.
  • Negotiate terms and contracts with suppliers to secure cost-effective agreements.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ascertain procurement needs and specifications.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure high-quality goods and services delivery.
  • Oversee inventory management to maintain sufficient stock levels for ongoing projects.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company procurement policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for project materials.
  • Monitor and report on market and delivery conditions, impacting supply chain activities.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and generate reports to support decision-making processes.
  • Resolve supplier issues promptly to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting departments for budget tracking and cost analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management within the civil sector.
  • Strong understanding of procurement practices, contract management, and negotiation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective supplier and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate market trends and supplier performance effectively.
