Job Description

An Orthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial anomalies. They are experts in straightening misaligned teeth, correcting bite problems, and ensuring optimal function and aesthetics of the oral structure. Orthodontists play a crucial role in enhancing both the appearance and functionality of a patient’s mouth, improving not only facial esthetics but also overall health. Utilizing various appliances such as braces, aligners, and retainers, they work with patients to develop personalized, long-term treatment plans. Their tasks require precision, a keen understanding of dental anatomy, and a passion for patient care and satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Diagnose dental and jaw abnormalities using x-rays and diagnostic tools.
  • Design custom orthodontic treatment plans for patients of all ages.
  • Install orthodontic appliances like braces, aligners, and retainers.
  • Monitor patient progress during scheduled appointments and adjust treatments.
  • Collaborate with other dental specialists for comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices related to orthodontic care.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in orthodontic techniques and technology.
  • Ensure strict compliance with dental policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Manage patient records with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Supervise orthodontic assistants and junior staff during clinical procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain treatment options and outcomes.
  • Manage supply inventory and maintain clinic equipment regularly.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree required.
  • Completion of an orthodontic residency program from an accredited institution.
  • Valid orthodontist license .
  • Strong understanding of dental health standards and orthodontic procedures.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail are essential skills.
  • Effective communication skills to interact clearly with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions confidently.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and staying current with industry trends.
