Job Description

A NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Registered Nurse plays a critical role in caring for the most vulnerable patients—newborns requiring specialized medical attention. This position is integral to delivering high-quality healthcare to infants in need of immediate and intensive medical assistance, often involving premature babies or those with life-threatening conditions. As a NICU Nurse, you will provide advanced nursing care across various medical procedures, work closely with pediatricians and neonatologists, and support families during challenging times. The role requires excellent clinical skills, the ability to make rapid decisions, and a compassionate approach to meet the high emotional and physical demands of the job. Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor the health status of newborns admitted to the NICU.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and intravenous fluids accurately and safely.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to families throughout the NICU stay.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all medical records and documentation as required.
  • Operate and manage life-supporting equipment, such as ventilators and incubators.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to any changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Educate parents on infant care, health maintenance, and medical requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate patient care activities with other healthcare professionals effectively.
  • Implement infection control protocols to maintain a sterile and safe environment.
  • Advocate for the comprehensive care needs of each neonatal patient assigned.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Previous experience working in a NICU or similar critical care setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required.
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to perform under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with families and healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed assessments and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in operating medical equipment and maintaining accurate documentation.
