Job Description

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Estimator plays a critical role in the construction industry by meticulously analyzing project requirements and preparing detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This position requires a keen eye for detail and an ability to synthesize large amounts of data into accurate, actionable insights that inform project bidding and decision-making processes. The MEP Estimator will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure that all aspects of the MEP systems are accounted for in the project plans and budgets. With a strong understanding of both technical specifications and financial constraints, the MEP Estimator will contribute to the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to estimate costs.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Identify and evaluate potential cost-saving opportunities to improve project budgets.
  • Manage and maintain estimation data, including pricing and costing updates.
  • Participate in bid preparation, submission, and follow-up processes with clients and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate price quotes.
  • Analyze historical data to refine estimation techniques and improve accuracy.
  • Attend project meetings to provide cost insights and support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices in all estimates.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to adjust estimates based on project changes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the construction industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in MEP estimation or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for detailed calculations.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with teams and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines consistently.
