Job Description

A Media Buyer is a pivotal part of the marketing team responsible for the strategic purchase of advertising spaces across various media platforms such as television, radio, print, digital, and social media. This role requires a deep understanding of consumer behavior and market trends, and it involves negotiating with media vendors to get the most effective and cost-efficient placements. They ensure the creative content reaches the target audience, optimizing the exposure and impact of marketing campaigns. The Media Buyer evaluates both qualitative and quantitative data to shape media strategies and works closely with other departments to align media plans with the overall marketing objectives. This role demands analytical skills, creativity, and a robust ability to manage budgets efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Research and identify target audiences and suitable media channels for campaigns.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts with media vendors for optimal deals.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align media strategies with overall goals.
  • Create detailed media plans and budgets for client approval and execution.
  • Stay updated on media trends and emerging channels to gain a competitive edge.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media vendors and partners.
  • Manage and reconcile media invoices, ensuring budget adherence.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on campaign outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Use data analytics tools to assess and refine media buying strategies continually.
  • Ensure all media buys comply with legal standards and industry regulations.
  • Adjust media buys based on performance data and emerging consumer insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in media buying or planning, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong negotiating skills and a strategic approach to media buying.
  • Ability to interpret data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present findings effectively.
  • Familiarity with digital media and experience in programmatic buying preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with media analytics tools.
