Job Description

The role of a Logistics Officer is critical within any organization involved in the transportation, distribution, and management of goods. This position requires a keen understanding of logistics operations and a proactive approach to managing supply chain activities. The Logistics Officer is responsible for ensuring that goods move smoothly through the supply chain, from the point of origin to the end customer. This includes planning, coordinating, and overseeing the logistics operations to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the role demands excellent communication skills to interact with vendors, suppliers, co-workers, and clients.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials.
  • Oversee the scheduling and tracking of shipments and deliveries for efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of logistics activities, inventories, and transactions.
  • Monitor and manage logistics costs to keep them within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international logistics regulations and laws.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to optimize transportation routes and costs.
  • Implement and maintain logistics strategies and processes for operational improvement.
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure smooth operation of storage and distribution.
  • Work closely with the sales and procurement teams for seamless supply chain operations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to shipments and deliveries promptly.
  • Prepare reports and provide insights on logistics activities and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Logistics Officer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
