The Lead Electrical Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing all electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement activities across CAFUs fuel delivery trucks and fuel terminal depots. This includes DC systems in vehicles, systems in depots, pump control systems, electrical panels, and related equipment. The position ensures electrical systems are safe, reliable, compliant with applicable standards, and optimized for continuous 24/7 operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Truck Electrical Systems (DC Auto-Electrical Work)
Lead troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of truck electrical and electronic systems, including batteries, alternators, starter motors, relays, and fuses.
Handle DC wiring, sensors, actuators, solenoid valves, and signal lights.
Maintain vehicle-mounted equipment such as fuel pumps, ADR lights, control switches, PIS, IoT devices, and safety interlocks.
Depot Electrical & Control Systems
Supervise and perform maintenance of depot electrical systems, including submersible turbine pumps (STPs), MOVs, control panels, lighting, and alarms.
Maintain flow meters, level transmitters, sensors, and junction boxes.
Perform safe isolation, lockout/tagout, and coordinate with mechanical and instrumentation teams for troubleshooting.
Electrical Power Distribution (Single & Three Phase)
Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot DBs, MCBs, MCCBs, and contactors.
Maintain cables, trays, glands, and power circuits in depot areas.
Ensure compliance with UAE electrical safety codes and perform insulation resistance and continuity tests.
Supervise contractors during installation or upgrade works.
Safety, Compliance, and Documentation
Ensure all electrical work complies with QHSE and hazardous area safety standards.
Conduct inspections for grounding, bonding, and explosion-proof (Ex) equipment.
Maintain electrical drawings, test reports, and maintenance logs.
Participate in incident investigations and audits.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED - WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Strong knowledge of DC auto-electrical systems and AC (single/three-phase) systems.
Familiarity with fuel dispensing control systems and depot automation.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and control schematics.
Skilled with electrical test instruments (multimeter, clamp meter, megger).
Understanding of hazardous area classification and electrical safety.
Leadership and coordination of field teams.
Strong analytical and fault-diagnosis ability.
JOB PREREQUISITES:
Vocational qualifications in related field (electrical).
7+ years of experience in truck electrical systems and industrial electrical maintenance.
Experience in pump control systems, MOVs, and automation interfaces preferred.
Knowledge of ADR / NFPA 70 / EN 60079 standards desirable.
