Job Description

An HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer is responsible for ensuring the implementation of effective safety policies and practices within an organization. Their primary focus is to establish and maintain a safe work environment that complies with statutory regulations and promotes the wellbeing of all employees. This involves risk assessment, audits, and the coordination of safety training programs. HSE Officers work collaboratively with management to tailor these programs to integrate safety into the company culture. They play a crucial role in minimizing hazards, reducing operational risks, and ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to, contributing to the organization's overall efficiency and compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the workplace environment.
  • Develop, implement, and review company safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate health, safety, and environment training sessions for all employees.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to safety.
  • Maintain records of safety-related documentation and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with management to enhance and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Assess potential hazards, implement control measures, and mitigate risks.
  • Stay updated with changes in regulations and industry safety standards.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
  • Coordinate emergency procedures and conduct regular emergency drills.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance and identify improvement areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Proven experience working as an HSE Officer in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective training.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or other recognized safety qualifications.
  • Analytical skills to identify and solve safety-related issues efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities adeptly.
