Job Description

As a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that workplace safety, health, and environmental standards are consistently upheld. You will be responsible for identifying potential safety issues and implementing measures to prevent accidents and occupational health hazards. This role demands a vigilant and proactive approach to managing risks and compliance with regulatory standards. The HSE Officer will work closely with management and employees to foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, ensuring that the organization not only meets but exceeds legal safety requirements. Your contribution is vital in minimizing operational risks and promoting a safe working environment for all employees.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify workplace hazards.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with regulations.
  • Provide comprehensive training to employees on safety and environmental practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine their root causes.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and enhance preparedness plans.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and changes in health and safety legislation.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by leading by example and encouraging openness.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on safety performance metrics to management.
  • Work closely with employees and management to improve safety standards continuously.
  • Manage waste disposal and containment procedures according to environmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate with external safety auditors and inspectors during official visits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a safety officer role or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective training and report preparation.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and safety evaluations efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to safety issues.
